Man is made of 72% water and it's no wonder our sea legs are longing to feel the sway of the ocean once again. No better time than a long Thanksgiving break! So if we're lucky enough to find a little internet, we'll keep you posted on our adventures at sea...

Meet the Crew

There's six of us on board for our tropical Thanksgiving adventure.  We're getting excited to cast off and set sail!

The four of us adults on board have all been sailing together as much as we can for the past five years.  Here we are in the much colder climates up in the San Juan Islands off Washington and Canada.

Kathy & Keith, Mark & Stacy:
Keith caught the sailing bug a few years back and there's been no cure for this doctor's pernicious ailment.  He has always been one for adventure.  Ever since Keith and Kathy's 2009 tour of the Leewards, they've been anxious to get back on the water.  Even though this doc is great to sail with because he is ready to medicate or patch you up, he usually ends up using his skills on himself!  (watch out for those urchins, Keith!)

Kathy is the head chef in our galley as she is excellent at both provisioning and cooking.  And although Stacy cooks too, nobody can come close to making the fabulous dishes that come out of Kathy's galley.  She's also an expert kayaker turned water-taxi driver as we always get her to tow us to the best skin diving spots by paddling us in.

Mark has been sailing since he was 18 when got the chance to go with his best friend's family on a long summer sailing adventure in Mexico.  Ever since then he's been hooked.  He and Keith got their sailing certifications back in 2006.  Mark's excited to leave his land-lubber job for a couple weeks and get his sea legs back.

Stacy is up for night passages and late night watch duties behind the helm--just give her an ipod and harness her to the captain's seat and she'll take the shift no one wants.  She also unabashedly loves to be-friend the locals on every island, even if she doesn't speak the same language. This always makes life on shore all the more adventurous.

This time we're also bringing along Mark and Stacy's youngest two kids Chloe and Connor.  They've been getting ready all month by practicing knot tying and studying sailing terminology with flash cards.

Chloe  is excited to be Kathy's sous chef in the galley.  She's eleven and loves helping in the kitchen and loves her "Aunt" Kathy even more.  Chloe loves to swim and can't wait for do some snorkeling.  We call her "Guppy".

Connor is ready for all his shipboard duties.  He's been practicing how to help the captain set the anchor by practicing his signals and also by practicing tying a bowline so he can secure boat fenders in no time flat.  Mostly we're happy to have this kid along to swab the decks for us. Hence his boat nickname "Swab".

This crew of six is excited and ready to set sail!
